"David vs Goliath"; David lost while Goliath advance to the National Training Camp

John (Blue team) tried to do a lay-up shoot, but blocked by  Kai (Red Team) during the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA 2016 presented by Alaska held on April 9-10 for the Manila Regional Selection Camp.
Out of 1,030 (boys) hopefuls on Day 1, where basketball skills were tested and assessed, he (John) managed to passed and selected to top 40.  He came back on Day 2 to join with other kids in the Jr. NBA Manila Regional Selection Camp held April 9-10, 2016 at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Makati City.

At the age of 13, playing basketball at school as point guard / shooter, he's very excited to be part of this program and looking forward to the National Training Camp.  When asked about his preparation in  the joining the program,  He simply answered, "natulog ng maaga, nagdasal at nag practice"

After their match (Red vs. Blue), I asked him about his reaction playing (close) against Kai  He said, "Ginawa ko po ang BEST ko".  I also showed him the photo (shown above), he just simply replied and proud, "Kahit maliit ka po wag ka po matakot sa malalaking tao (kasi)... isipin mo na lang po ung kay kay David and Goliath"

A humbly player from Caloocan will be entering Grade 7 this coming school year 2016-2017 bringing the experiences he'd learned from the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA presented by Alaska sports program..  Are we going to expect him next year?  We'll find out :)

His Teammate, Angelo was also played struggle against Kai.  The latter player was blocking his way up to the basket and managed to rotate on a 180 degrees without moving into another place.  See the images below.

Angelo is strong enough to shoot the ball.  Oh well at least :).  After the game, i approached him and have some conversation about what happened inside the court.  Here' the video.

He's smiling and laughing saying that, "Natatakot ako na aka madaganan ako at masupalpal" which is true :D .  And he's referring to the big man in the court, Kai.

Angelo joining the program for two (2) consecutive years and hoping for level up, the National Training Camp.  Before qualified to the Manila Leg (RSC) (as one in the list of 40 boys player), he's busy every morning practicing Basketball.  "Nagpaparactice tuwing umaga (ala syete / 7AM)", he added.  This dedication and passion brought him and become part of the varsity players in his school..

These young men, John and Angelo, were only among other kids wishes to become part of the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Dream Team.  Their best effort is not enough as others excel more of what they had learned during the Camp.

As per Angelo,  he will continue to join the program as long as he still qualified or belong to the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA age requirement.

At the end of Day 2,  Representatives from Manila were revealed.  Sixteen (16) Boys and 8 Girls will play together with other RSC's from Baguio, Cebu, and Davao for the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA 2016 National Training Camp presented by Alaska on Apri 22 -24, 2016.
